Our lab holds silver LEAF accreditation (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework). We also participate in the university's Green Impact scheme to continuously improve the sustainability and resource efficiency of the Department of Biology.
One of our initiatives is the creation of a native wildflower meadow at the John Krebs Field Station, led by Kieran Walter. Bees along with many other animals benefit when meadows are left to grow undisturbed. By sowing a variety of native flowers with staggered blooming windows, we help provide food and shelter for wild bees and other pollinators throughout the year.
